Kevin Costner’s epic drama, Horizon: An American Saga’s Chapter 1, is all set for its box office journey on Friday, and being honest, this is just a formality theatrical release for Warner Bros. Pictures with no sky-high expectations at the box office[1]. Kevin Costner is a popular figure in the industry, and that’s the big reason there is some hype around the film, which indicates that this film may perform decently at the box office, but it will be too important for this film to survive in such a competitive environment for box office success.

Due to Kevin Costner and the established cast of the film, there is some buzz surrounding the film, but the pre-sale at the ticket window still looks quite dull. Considering the average buzz, industry experts and production are expecting Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 to make $15–20 million on its opening weekend across the United States and Canada, which is a decent debut for an R-rated film with a medium budget. These are just rough numbers, whereas if we look at the competitive environment surrounding the film, it will debut with an even lower performance.

Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 comes with a price tag of $50 million, and with this budget, the long run is going to be crucial for box office success as the debut numbers are not too excellent. In the long run, the numbers are not looking good, and there are some disappointing things for the production. First of all, the film has received a red flag from critics, and on top of that, it comes with an adult rating, which makes it a good number in the long run. The remaining damage is being completed by the big films clashing with it. Considering all factors, Chapter 1 will end its box office run with $40 million domestically and $100 million globally.

Against the production budget of $50 million, the predicted numbers for Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 are not up to the mark, and making money for Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema is almost impossible. The biggest relief here is that maybe this First Chapter will reach the recovery mark, which will be good for production. Warner Bros. Pictures is probably already aware of the projected numbers, that’s why the production is not showing much interest in marketing, whether it’s in the domestic market or overseas. I hope the film does well and this series becomes a successful franchise. Read Also: A Quiet Place Day One Box Office Prediction: Set for a Solid $40 Million Debut
