This year has not favored Focus Features, and the production has suffered back-to-back losses. After facing many failures, Focus Features is now ready for the box office journey of its crime drama The Bikeriders, which will be released on June 21, 2024[1]. But there doesn’t seem to be any possibility that this star-studded crime drama will relieve the production because there is a lack of buzz around the film. The production has spent more than its limit, and the box office projections are raising concerns about the recovery or success of the film.

The craze and anticipation of the film are absolutely negligible among the audience, and with such buzz, the chances of the audience being extra at the ticket window are slim. Considering the lack of buzz, box office experts forecasting just $6–8 million on its opening weekend from The Bikeriders across the United States and Canada— It’s undeniably a poor debut despite being a small-budget film from Focus Features. Many big films have been released around the film, including Bad Boys 4, Inside Out 2, and A Quiet Place: Day One, and undoubtedly, this small film will not be able to survive among these films.

The debut projection is not good, and there is no possibility The Bikeriders will do well even in the long run. The Bikeriders comes with an R-rating, and it’s too important for the reviews to be good with the adult rating, but both the reviews and buzz are out of favor. According to reports, the production budget for the film is around $40 million, including marketing costs, and long-term predictions with a lack of buzz indicate a disappointing sign for the production and makers. As of now, the lifetime box office projection currently stands at $15–20 million domestically and $30 million globally, which is undeniably a poor show for the makers. More to Read: Box Office: Is Bad Boys 4 a Hit or Flop?

Overall, the box office projections indicate another failure for Focus Features this year, including some losses as well. Not just Focus Features, the numbers are also disappointing for the international partner Universal Pictures, as the overseas audience is also not interested. As a small-budget film with well-established names like Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, and Michael Shannon, these pre-release numbers are a bit disappointing. Still, I hope The Bikeriders at least touches the recovery numbers. However, the recovery numbers are much higher than the production costs, so it is unlikely that the film will cover the production costs.
